| SaafConsult BV has partnered with Biochar Systems Limited (New Zealand) to undertake an FAO-RAP study on the opportunities for biochar in
Yunnan, China, leading to a better understanding of how biochar could be
linked to existing agricultural and bioenergy systems for the benefit of
rural communities both in China and the Greater Mekong Sub-Region. The
duration of the study is from May to October 2010. |

| SaafConsult BV has been invited to assist the Wildlife Conservation Society (Pakistan Program Office) in better understanding the reality of markhor trophy hunting in the Gilgit and Diamer districts of northern Pakistan. The work aims to contribute to the conservation of the critically endangered markhor by assessing the success, effectiveness and sustainability of the current trophy hunting programme, providing recommendations that will directly and positively impact conservation activities and outputs for this species and the wider ecosystem in which it occurs. |

We have been in discussion with the Sea East Asia Biochar Interest Group about undertaking a joint biochar assessment for FAO-RAP in Yunnan Province, China. SaafConsult also has a proposal in the pipeline in Jordan for additional work with RSCN in the Azraq Wetlands and Mujib Nature Reserve. And finally, we are nearing completion of our most recent work with the American Red Cross in Bangkok (assisting the Tsunami Relief Progam Water and Sanitation Team with the development of their final ‘leave behind’ for future watsan work in disaster recovery situations). |

| Saafconsult will provide a short term expert to EGIS/BCEOM for the EU Water Initiative for the Mediterranean (MED EUWI) project. The objective of this project is to promote the adoption of IWRM governance principles through their use for the definition and implementation of water management policies and measures, at both national and regional levels, including the support to measures enabling the success of these processes. The area of activity of MED EUWI comprises the following partner countries : Mediterranean : Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Israel, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, occupied Palestinian Territory, Syria, Tunisia and Turkey. South Eastern Europe: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Serbia and Montenegro. |

| Saafconsult BV has been working with the American Red Cross in Bangkok, Thailand, since December 2009 to assist the Tsunami Relief Programs Water and Sanitation Team to develop a comprehensive and user-friendly "leave-behind" manual for future relief workers encountering similar situations in the region. To date, the process has resulted in an internal Wiki that is currently being populated with critical data, and which will be developed into the manual for final approval by 31 March 2010. |
